Description
Lafayette College, a highly selective, private liberal arts college of 2,700 undergraduates, located in the picturesque Lehigh Valley and the historic city of Easton, PA (just 75 minutes from both New York City and Philadelphia), plans to appoint an admissions professional to help lead the College's effort to recruit, select and enroll new classes of students. Offering B.A. and B.S. degree programs in the liberal arts and engineering, Lafayette enjoys a distinctive reputation for having university-like resources within an intimate and increasingly dynamic and connected community. Lafayette is proud to be considered among the most compelling and successful colleges in the country. The successful candidate will play a key and active role in helping elevate Lafayette's presence on the national and international stage.

General responsibilities for this position include managing all aspects of in-person and virtual (online) recruitment work for an assigned territory:

● representing the College at college fairs and high school visits;

● conducting interviews and group information sessions;

● evaluating admissions applications;

● developing and tending to relationships with students, parents/guardians and school/community-based organization/independent counselors.

● collaborating as a dynamic team member on various internal work groups.

● interacting with alumni, divisional peers, and college leadership in a professional manner on behalf of the Admissions department.

● successfully planning and executing both on-campus and off-campus events when assigned.

● managing student workers and/or volunteers effectively and in a positive manner.

In addition to significant contact with external constituents, the professional in this role will serve on and potentially lead a number of internal teams that advance the larger enrollment division's cause as an energized and goal-oriented operation.

Qualifications
The successful candidate must hold a bachelor’s degree, be willing to travel domestically and possibly internationally, and have a minimum of two years experience working within higher education.

Extended hours during the academic year, including evenings and weekends (when necessary) are the norm. The team seeks a teammate with an appreciation for the power of a liberal arts education and who can effectively engage students from diverse and underrepresented backgrounds. Excellent communication, interpersonal and organizational skills are expected, as well as the ability to work as part of a team and manage multiple projects concurrently. A high level of energy and an excitement for young people and their aspirations for college opportunities are critical components to being successful in this role. Prior experience with Slate, Lafayette’s Admissions CRM, is preferred. A valid driver’s license is also required.
