Job Summary/Basic Function

The Department of Physics and Astronomy at Middle Tennessee State University invites applicants for a full-time, tenure-track faculty position (#156070) at the rank of assistant or associate professor. The start date for the position is August 1, 2024.

The successful candidate will be passionate about research and teaching and have a plan for developing an active research program to engage undergraduates. In addition, there are opportunities to work with graduate students in our Computational Science and Data Science PhD programs and participate in our new Quantum Science Initiative launched in 2023. MTSU is an R2 university with a strong emphasis on research. Our Physics and Astronomy faculty include NSF CAREER award winners, faculty supported by traditional NSF, DOE, and NASA funding, and Fulbright and KITP Scholars. Appropriate research areas may include but are not limited to quantum materials, machine learning, quantum information science, physics and astronomy education research, experimental biophysics, applied optics, nanomaterials, and astrophysics. Required Education

A terminal degree in physics or a closely related field is required by the appointment date.
