Ohio Wesleyan University, a selective, private, undergraduate liberal arts, residential institution founded in 1842 and located just 20 miles north of Columbus, is seeking candidates for the position of Career Connection Office Manager. This is an hourly, fulltime position with benefits. Seeking a candidate with strong interpersonal communication skills, organizational skills, and attention to detail for accurate record keeping and proofing of documents. Talented at taking initiative and managing projects with limited supervision and direction. Must have the ability to maintain confidentiality, handle multiple tasks/projects simultaneously, and ability to interact with high-profile Alumni and create positive stewardship experiences.

As an integral part of the OWU Connection (connecting classroom learning to real-world experience), the Career Connection Team actively guides OWU students and alumni with tools, resources, and connections to help them choose their career path and become prepared and confident for the professional world. The Career Connection Team comprises of the Career Connection Director, 4 Career Catalysts, Student Interns, Career Volunteers, Alumni, and the Career Connection Office Manager. Joining the Career Connection Team as the Office Manager would allow you to play an essential role in helping students find opportunities to use their passions, advance the Higher Education landscape, and gain hands-on experience with marketing, event planning, resource creation, and implementation. Job Summary:

A full-time, one-year, donor-funded opportunity with benefits at Ohio Wesleyan University with a start date of June 2024 that will support the Career Connection team, reporting to the Director of Career Connection.

The responsibilities of this position are to interact with students, staff, faculty, alumni, and recruiters in a professional manner befitting the University’s vision. Administrative oversight and event planning are priorities for this position, along with maintaining office correspondence, confidentiality, reception, and strategic coordination.

Responsibilities and duties:

  • Provide excellent customer service at the front desk; welcoming and checking in students, Alumni, and guests to Career Connection.
  • Serve as a thought-partner with the Director on strategic career initiatives and coordination.
  • Handle oversight of event logistics including room reservations, catering requests, email reminders, and student check-in.
  • Assist with managing the OWU Alumni Partners Program, Alumni onboarding, and ongoing communication.
  • Provide co-supervision of Student Interns/Peer Career Coaches and communicate project needs.
  • Manage the schedule and needs of Alumni in Residence/volunteers and market dropin visits.
  • Receive training as a Peer Career Coach and assist during drop-ins as needed.
  • Manage Instagram and social media accounts and create images via Canva.
  • Market Career Connection events, drop-in hours, resources, programs, and materials through regular communication efforts via email, social media, OWU Daily, etc.
  • Oversee the Careers email account, Handshake, UConnect Virtual Career Center, and OWU Daily posts.
  • Assist in data collection and analysis of internships, appointment/event statistics.
  • Manage student career grants: overseeing application processes, promoting opportunities, handling student correspondence & inquiries, processing checks, and managing post-experience information.
  • Integrate creative ideas and conduct presentations/fill gaps as appropriate.
  • Oversee office organization, manage notes at meetings, and order supplies for the office, events, and programs.
  • Coordinate monthly Employer Spotlight tabling events.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Factors contributing to success:

  • Bachelor’s Degree Required.
  • Excellent writing skills, reliability, and follow-through.
  • Experience and/or interest in Higher Education preferred.
