Job Description

Regularly patrol designated area, enforcing security regulations, maintaining secure areas, assessing possible hazards, identifying and relocating unauthorized personnel, maintaining continuous contact with main security area.
Complete opening and closing procedures, including arming and disarming alarms as required. Ensure that windows and doors are secure.
Serve as primary contact in the case of emergency. This includes weather, fire, flood, and evacuation emergencies. Ensure that occupants/patrons are safely evacuated or moved to secure areas, the building is secure and authorities notified. Serve as liaison for police, fire, and other emergency personnel responding to the incident, providing information and assistance as needed.
Respond to all alarms and investigate. File incident report if appropriate.
Operate two-way communication system to send and receive messages following appropriate radio protocol.
Serve as liaison to custodial and maintenance staff regarding unsafe conditions. May address conditions personally (mop up spills, mark hazards, etc.)
May be required to provide first aid and CPR.
May identify security problems and develop, and implement solutions in response.
May provide security/safety-related training to designated staff. Assist in developing, revising, and editing security procedure manual.
May provide courier service for valuables (cash and small items).

Transport and set-up barricades for events along with working assigned special events.
Transport lost & found and other large items for the department.
Set-up and remove closed campus signs.
Assist with finger printing, bicycle registration, and computer registration.
Deliver departmental mail and correspondences to campus, courts, and similar groups.
Check and keep up with room reservation list.
Check campus emergency phones.
May serve as a training officer for new Security Guards.
Provide escorts when requested.
Other duties as specified by the Chief of Police or their designee.

Shift

Shift times will varies.

Overtime is expected for Special Events and Functions

Minimum Qualifications

A high school diploma or an equivalent combination of education and experience from which comparable knowledge and abilities can be acquired is necessary.

Anticipated Hiring Range

Salary: $17.00 per hour

Grade: GGS-004

University Title: Security Officer

Selection Board Interview
Background Investigation to include a criminal history check and contact with at least three personal references.
Computer Voice Stress Analysis/CVSA (If deemed necessary by the Director of Police.)
