Patient Admissions Specialist
Patient Admissions Specialist
Job Summary
Provides administrative assistance and support to unit. Serves as a primary contact for patients and assists with record maintenance and filing. Assists in patient services projects as directed.
Essential Functions
The Patient Admission Specialist (PAS) serves as the initial point of contact for patients seeking care at the school and plays a critical role in creating a "private practice" experience for the patient from the start. This position is responsible for receiving prospective patient calls on the school's primary phone line, conveying requested information in a friendly and courteous manner, obtaining necessary information from patients to schedule initial screening appointments, and transferring callers to specialty clinics when appropriate. As patients visit the School, the PAS team again plays a critical role in creating a positive, professional experience, from the welcome given by the PAS serving as concierge on a particular day to the courteous and efficient completion of the registration process for scheduled and emergency patients. The PAS also collects, posts and balances individual patient payments and prepares daily bank deposits and reports. Finally, the incumbent supports mail communications from the school's clinics, including generating new patient information letters, managing the central printer for patient mailings, and researching and reprocessing returned patient mail. Incumbent must demonstrate excellent interpersonal skills and diligently observe HIPAA requirements in all dealings with patients and patient information.
Physical Effort
This position is primarily sedentary but requires the ability to move around the department and School.
