Position Responsibilities:

This Postdoctoral Research Associate will work with the Convergence Lab Initiative (CLI). CLI will bring together scientists, engineers and technicians with electro-optics, infrared, radio frequency and edge technology specializations to solve pressing defense challenges for the United States. The successful candidate will have a unique opportunity to develop and expand upon a diversified technical skill set while making a positive contribution to the development of Infrared materials, devices and technology, optoelectronics and nanophotonic devices for infrared and visible spectral regions, and development of Quantum devices.

Research projects for this position will involve development of semiconductor materials and micro-/nano-fabrication of electronic/photonic devices. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in semiconductor physics, material science, device fabrication and device characterization. Preference will be given to candidates who have experience in materials growth and microelectronic device fabrication as well as writing research proposals, technical reports, and journal papers. In this position, the successful candidate will have the opportunity to work and collaborate with a network of faculty and students, and other scientists and engineers.

Required Qualifications:

- Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering, Physics, Materials Science or a closely related field
- Experience in Semiconductor materials growth, Device Fabrication and Characterization
- Experience in surface coating/passivation
- Experience in materials Characterization (x-ray diffraction, microscopy, and luminescence)
- Ability to mentor graduate and undergraduate students, and ensure the highest levels of laboratory safety
- Excellent communication skills
- Demonstrated ability to work in multi-disciplinary teams
- Ability to work under tight deadlines and short turnaround times

Preferred Qualifications:

- Familiarity with modern epitaxial growth techniques, such as molecular beam epitaxy, metal-organic vapor phase epitaxy, and/or atomic layer deposition.
- Familiarity with infrared materials and detector fabrication techniques.
